Summer News

Happy novel news this summer:

FIND ME made the longlist for The Center for Fiction’s first novel prize, in excellent company.

Sloane Crosley’s recent NYTBR Critic’s Take essay on apocalyptic fiction by women was kind enough to include FIND ME.

FIND ME made Vol. 1 Brooklyn’s list of Best Debut Novels of 2015 So Far.

Happy non-novel news:

A new story, “The Other Daughter, is in the July/August issue of The Kenyon Review.

New Books!

Maniac-level grateful that I get to keep working with the FSG on two new books: Havana, a novel, & a new story collection. Here is the official thing from Publisher’s Marketplace:

“B&N Discover pick and Rosenthal Family Foundation Award-winning author of THE ISLE OF YOUTH and FIND ME, Laura van den Berg’s THE THIRD HOTEL, and a new collection of short stories, to Emily Bell at Farrar, Straus, by Katherine Fausset at Curtis Brown (world).”

Jeannette Haien Ballard Writer’s Prize

Super happy and honored to be able to share that I have won a 2015 Jeannette Haien Ballard Writer’s Prize, a $25,000 annual prize given to “a young writer of proven excellence in poetry or prose” and established in honor of author Jeannette Haien Ballard.
